REFUGIO Thuringia
REFUGIO Thuringia was set up to support refugees with special safeguarding needs,
particularly LGBTIQA people navigating the complexities of immigration and asylum. The project is a counseling center that offers advice on residence rights, accommodation and access to health care for refugee women.
REFUGIO collaborates with other organizations and networks towards the Istanbul Convention’s requirements for effective safeguarding. REFUGIO Thuringia’s work focuses on women fleeing gender-related violence/persecution, and FGM/C in particular.
REFUGIO Thuringia acts as coordination and advisory office for various other institutions to provide competent advice to both refugees and those supporting them, and to refer clients on to other services where appropriate. In order to improve services, we work with professionals on training and networking to promote awareness of the specific needs and vulnerabilities of our target group.
