Mission statement/description:
More than 200 million girls and women worldwide are affected by female genital mutilation (FGM). It is not just a problem in high-risk countries: the influx of people from these countries means that FGM is also becoming an issue in Germany.
IN VIA Bayern e.V. is involved in various projects of the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs to protect girls at risk in Bavaria and to provide professional and needs-based help for affected women. The organization of events for professionals should help to adequately address the topic and open up the field for further projects such as the FGM_C awareness project of the Bavarian State Government’s Integration Commissioner and events in this context.
